Tabletop & Decor

Objects that earn their place on the surface. Not decorations for the sake of decoration — but pieces that hold memory, invite touch, and say something about the person who chose them.

Living With Wood

01

Care

Dust with a dry cloth. Keep away from standing water and direct afternoon sun. Once a year, a thin coat of beeswax restores depth to the grain.

02

Placement

Place off-centre and in odd numbers. One larger object anchors a table; smaller pieces sit to one side. Leave a third of the surface empty — space is part of the arrangement.

03

Why Wood

Wood ages instead of wearing out. Plastics fade and metals tarnish; solid wood darkens, softens and takes on the marks of its home. Decor that gets better with time.

The Dish of the Star

Chip & Dip Serving Tray

The chip-dip tray is the object that quietly anchors every gathering. Move over the mass-produced, the predictable, the forgotten. This one takes five days to make. Every cut in the patterning is deliberate. The finish is food-safe mineral oil, applied in three coats, hand-buffed between each.

No Ordinary Tray

Desk Organizer

Geometric patterns assembled through a sequence of interlocking combinations, this is not a tray with a pattern printed on it. The pattern is the structure. The Wabi-Sabi approach means imperfect edges are embraced rather than corrected. No two trays will be identical at the grain level. What looks like variation is, in fact, character.

The Piano Hook

Five hooks. Seven notes. The positions map precisely to the Saptaswara, the seven notes of Indian classical music. A detail most visitors will never notice. The ones who do will never forget it. Sourced from solid Malaysian hardwood and finished with a matte oil coat, each hook is rated to hold 15kg, coats, bags, instruments. This is not decorative hardware; it is furniture that happens to be beautiful.

The Geometry of Us

Every relationship has a geometry. This sculpture maps it, two distinct forms, built from opposite methods, anchored by a shared point of growth. The female form is constructed from thin interlocking wood strips in intricate, organic patterns, complexity worn openly. The male form is a solid hardwood silhouette, stoic, structural, present. Between them, a perfect sphere holds a test-tube planter: new beginnings, tended carefully.

Contours of Time

Mt. Fuji Timepiece

Representing time through the language of wood was the central challenge of this piece. Drawing from the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, the acceptance of impermanence and imperfection, this timepiece is a meditation on the landscape rather than the hour. Thin sheets of contrasting hardwood are carved and chiselled into mountain contours, with epoxy resin and natural sand filling the valleys to complete the scene. The result is something that reads as sculpture first, clock second.

The Geometry of Us — commission case study

Case Study

A Sculpture for Three

Tuhina and Prem were welcoming a baby into their home. Tuhina is an artist who doubles up as a functional consultant; Prem is an IT consultant. They wanted something for the house that marked the moment — and would still mean something long after it.

We built two forms by opposite methods. Hers is assembled from thin interlocking strips in an intricate, organic pattern — the detail an artist lives in. His is a single solid hardwood silhouette: stoic, structural, present. In front of them sits a sphere with a place for a plant. That is the baby — and the room left for something new to grow.

Questions

About Tabletop & Decor

What makes these pieces different from regular home decor?

Most decor is made to look good in a showroom. These pieces are made to last in a home — which means solid wood, proper joinery, and a finish that won’t peel or yellow. Every piece in this category is handcrafted, which means the grain pattern on your piece won’t match the photograph exactly. That’s the point.

Are these food-safe? Can I use the trays for serving?

The Chip & Dip Tray and No Ordinary Tray are finished with a matte PU coat that’s safe for dry foods. We don’t recommend using them with wet foods, oils, or hot items directly. For serious serving use, we can apply a food-grade oil finish instead — just mention it when you order.

What wood is used?

Geometry of Us is in solid teak. The trays are in sustainable rubberwood. We choose based on grain character, durability, and what the piece demands structurally.

Can I commission a custom size or pattern?

Yes. Custom dimensions, patterns, and wood species are all possible. The geometric inlay on Geometry of Us can be adapted — different density, different angles, even a personalised pattern. Reach out via WhatsApp with your brief.

How do I care for the wood surface?

Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. Once a year, a light coat of beeswax or furniture oil will keep the wood looking its best.

Do you do gifting orders?

Yes, and it’s something we do well. A handcrafted piece with a personal note, packed properly, and shipped to an address of your choosing. We can also engrave initials or a short message on select pieces. Mention gifting when you reach out.

How long does it take to make and deliver?

Each piece takes 10–14 working days to make. Shipping adds 3–5 days. We don’t hold stock — everything is made when you order it.

What if it arrives damaged?

We pack carefully, but sometimes things happen in transit. If your piece arrives damaged, send us a photo within 48 hours and we’ll replace or repair it. No questions asked.
